I spent the morning sorting grade two appropriate words with my Associate Teacher. I told her about the Lego mechanics and how great it would be to use them for their own Makerspace the teachers are trying to create. I also learned about the Talkaphonics and Dreambox program. And during the language block I was given a station to command. I had four students visit me at a time. We wrote on dry erasable plates spelling out the five daily words as well as coming up with rhyming words. This station also had alphabet stamps but I found that they were not as effective as the plates and much more messy with the ink pads.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Dreambox had a math game program that was using Rekenreks. While my AT was using the Pear Deck program to be more interactive with the students I decided to relocate myself from observing around the classroom to sit beside one particular student to keep him on track and to gently prompt him to continue.
During library one of the students asked me to read one of the books that he had picked out for him and I greatly enjoyed doing so. It was one of the Mona the Vampire books.
