On Friday I didn’t end up getting home until a little before 10pm. After class I conversed with my peers over lunch and two of them mentioned they were going to an event held at the Bronson Center that was discussing Syrian refugees. Four of us decided to go.
There were four speakers one talked about Islamaphobia. Another talked about the importance of Communication, Coordination and Care. One of the speakers provided a definition of what it meant to be a Sanctuary City and the last one talked about a dichotomy of good/bad.
The larger group then split off into smaller ones with either a focus in one of the four categories of: Material/Private sponsorship, Everyday Anti-Racism, Solidarity and Rally/Demonstration.
