This morning I assisted Mr.T with rearranging the chairs that the after school program uses. The program is called Wabano which, to my understanding, is an Alqonquin word. I learned that the students would be making masks using quick drying strips of plaster.
The French teacher was away and had a substitute. I was able to meet and chat with Mr.N for a little bit before the morning bell rung. He told me that he mostly teaches on the French side and how it was a different system from the English one.
During the prep time, Mrs.M and I worked on creating a permission form for the parents to sign. This would either deny or grant me permission to post pictures of their children. I worked on chrome book and found it to be a very interesting experience in comparison to using my regular computer. I told Mrs. M about the google tone extension and how computers in range of the device could receive a link (as long as they have google tone too and the computer's sound is not muted).
Our class had an unexpected surprise in the grade two class when we all got in from recess (Mrs.M and mine’s morning duty). There was a present on the floor! The students all guessed what they thought it was. Then Mrs.R and I opened up the present. We found that there was an elf on the shelf in the box. It came with a book, that I had the pleasure of reading to the students. The book told them that they had to come up with a name for the elf and register it online. So the grade two’s all came up with names and then voted on the names. A tally was created that showed how many people voted for which name. The elf was named Foxy, after a Five Nights at Freddy’s horror video game character.
During lunch Mrs.M and I took part of a Webinar about Mathletics hosted by Jane Blythe. We also successfully were able to use google tone!
After school I helped Mrs.M while she wrote her supply notes, as she will be attending another Learning Connections meeting.
